Last month, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released proposed changes to Medicare Advantage that will impact the 20 million seniors and individuals with disabilities enrolled in the program. According to a new analysis by Oliver Wyman, prepared for America’s Health Insurance Plans (É«¿Ø´«Ã½), Medicare Advantage payments are estimated to increase less than reported cost trends. In addition, changes proposed by CMS to the Medicare Advantage risk adjustment model – used to compensate plans for the health status of their members – could have unintended consequences, especially for Medicare-Medicaid ‘dual eligibles.’
