Dr. Jan (Saira) leads the Horizon BCBS is the Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer and Professor Emerita at Rutgers state University, Ernest Mario School of pharmacy. She has over 25 years of experience in health care management, research and academia.
Dr. Jan manages the interface with formulary management, Pharmacy and therapeutic Committee (chair) drug reviews, utilization management, drug policy development, contracting, specialty management, quality measures, pharmacy benefit management and outcomes research. Within Horizon, she is responsible for managing Horizon鈥檚 pharmacy and medical integration initiatives for Medicaid, Commercial, health exchanges and Medicare line of business. She is also leading the Pharmacy medical integration for Value based relationships and manages pharmaceutical relationship as well as being the PBM interface for all pharmacy and medical collaborations. Dr. Jan also interfaces with Blues association and CMS for quality measures as well as FDA for various programs.
Dr. Jan has also publishes extensively with International Health Authority groups and Academia including book chapters as well as spoken at International Conferences discussing ongoing reforms in the US to improve the quality and efficiency of prescribing. She has also represented Blues association at the Institute of Medicine for patient safety and adverse drug reaction reporting initiatives as well as helped developed clinical trials and post marketing surveillance programs. She has also served on various committees. These include MEDCAC, research collaboration with FDA, National Blues committees, medical Advisory panel (MAP) for Blues association, CAQH, 色控传媒, AMCP and PAAD.
Dr. Jan has a Masters in Pharmacology from St John鈥檚 University and doctorate in Pharmacy from Rutgers State University.
